Interior Architecture Designer (Intern)

Jigsaw are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for an Intern Designer to assist our Interior Architecture team in our busy Dorset studio. Successful applicants will have the chance to take part in exciting projects from concept through to completion.



Founded in 2005, Jigsaw have enjoyed considerable growth in this emerging industry of interior architecture and design. We are a close-knit team with a wealth of experience within our design studio located in Poole, Dorset, and remote working designers in London producing schemes for private residential, residential developments and commercial projects.



Our office is based in Branksome, Poole, Dorset, just 2 hours from London. Poole is well known for Europe’s largest natural harbour, award winning blue flag beaches including the world-famous Sandbanks Beach. The responsibilities of the job role include:

Assist with working on residential, both private and development, hospitality, and commercial projects from concept to site completion.

Assist in providing Interior Architectural Design services and solutions on the project’s designs.

Capacity to visualise interiors and fixed joinery in 3D

Provide assistance to designers in emailing and contacting suppliers to source samples.

Assistance in completing templated documents required by designers.

Provide assistance in organising existing sample library and general office organisation.

Assistance in minor CAD drawings and initial project CAD set up

Assistance in Visuals, 3D, Photoshopping

Assistance in sourcing imagery for project presentation under guidancefrom designers.

Assistance in creating marketing finishes sample boards.

Assistance in taking minutes and attend client, internal and site meetings.

To answer the phone, be able to take enquiries and relay them to the intended designer.

In time, may be asked to work on own project stages of work with support from a Senior member of the team.


The required individual should meet the following criteria:

Interior design/interior architecture interest essential

Should have some work experience with links to the industry.

Should have had professional experience outside the industry (summer job, part time, etc..)

Strong design and communication skills.

Show creative flair, an insatiable curiosity for design with willingness to think outside the box.

Keen eye for detail in every aspect.

Enthusiasm, the ability to show initiative with excellent work ethic.

Ability to work well in a team and assist the team leader.

Capability to collaborate, to innovate and to learn.

Team player attitude with excellent English verbal and written communication skills for both internal and client related matters

Competent administration and organisational skills required.

Understanding of deadlines.

Basic Experience in conceptual thinking, presentations and communicating ideas with confidence.

Good level in AutoCAD is preferable.

Good level using Indesign and Photoshop required.

Outlook, Word, Excel and Powerpoint knowledge advantageous.

3D modelling and hand sketching abilities also preferable, e.g.SketchUp

Full UK driving licence would be desirable but not required.

CSCS card holder is advantageous, if not obtained you will need to take part in training and test once joined the team.

The candidate will shadow the Department Manager at first to understand Jigsaw procedures and standard but then as an Intern, will be expected to gradually get on their own assigned work. Whilst taking direction from the director and manager, they will be working alone at times and as part of a team at others and therefore is expected to having confidence with their own ideas. Jigsaw is looking of an Intern with strong willingness to develop skill set within the industry, eagerness to learn and showcase past work experience demonstrated through a beautiful portfolio of work.

Although based in Poole, the designer may be required to travel to London and within the UK, to attend required client, site, and supplier meetings accompanied by the Department Manager or another lead designer; therefore, the candidate will need to be happy to travel. This position can be part-time or full-time, can be discussed if selected during the interview. All candidates should be eligible to work in the UK.
