Interior architectural and interior design scheme in the lobby and communal areas at Ebury Apartments in Pimlico.

Jigsaw Interior Architecture was commissioned by Taylor Wimpey Central London to provide an interior architectural and interior design scheme in the lobby and communal areas at Ebury Apartments in Pimlico.

This final installation in the lobby and corridors completed Jigsaw’s vision for this exclusive residential apartment block following on from successful show home and interior architectural schemes in the apartments. Central to the design of the lobby was the idea of a very pale grey and gold tubular reception desk, with an angle sliced at one end, which anchors the space and is perfectly offset by the dramatic dark grey paint chosen for the walls.

The smooth cylindrical curve of the reception desk echoes the teardrop shapes within the development’s logo and the large pillar structural support in the lobby, around which the interior design team wrapped a curved banquette seat in dusty lilac. These gentle, soft curves are starkly contrasted by the spiky angular geometric floor tiles and sculptural pendant lighting installation above the reception desk.

Brass open framed pyramids hang in varying angles by Luum from Heathfield and Co reflect pinpoints of light. This geometric theme plays throughout the scheme notably in these triangular floor tiles in varying shades of grey contrasted with off white which were specially made for this space. The brass accents continue with the metallic gold letterbox and recessed niches painted a metallic gold which are interspersed within the grey Georgian wall panelled walls. An LED backlit sign of the development’s logo makes a glowing statement on the dark grey background.

The logo is also reproduced in the lobby’s matt well. In the hallways the sense of drama continues with dark walls decorated in a textured wallpaper to tie in with the tactile grain of the dark wenge wood doors.

Shards of slim tubular lights are suspended from the dark ceilings like stalactites and the metallic brass accents of the wayfinding reflect light around the darkly glamorous space.

Jigsaw’s scheme for the lobby and corridors creates a playful twist on a conventional reception and communal area, creating a highly stylised space which reflects the personality of our design within the apartments; completing and maintaining the integrity of the design and our vision for the development as a whole.
